Dr Paul Duignan’s Psychology Practice With CEOs and Executive Team Members
In addition to working in AI, organizational strategy and planning, at this stage in his career, Dr Paul Duignan puts aside some time each week to see selected leaders in his clinical psychology and executive coaching practice.
Real-world psychology for leaders
He’s a registered clinical psychologist with 30 plus years’ experience in high-pressure corporate and public-sector environments in addition to running a tech startup. This experience is unique among practicing psychologists. As a result he fully understand the intense demands on CEOs, founders, senior partners and professionals. From talking to his current clients, he’s in touch with the challenges that they face in today’s fast-changing business environment—especially pressures from AI, disruption, and constant change. In addition, he brings to his discussions the fact that he’s just finished writing a book on AI and a book on reinventing business planning.
“I was quite astounded with how spot on Paul was, he was able to articulate what was going on for me. I highly recommend him.”
Why see a psychologist?
Why work with someone who blends strategic advice and coaching and is a clinical psychologist? Because my clinical training lets me understand the full scope of what you’re facing and, when needed, we can explore issues more deeply than a typical executive coach can.
Tools for Living and Working Short Top Team Seminars
When time is available, he runs one-hour workshops for executive teams featuring my “Dr Paul’s Tools for Life and Work”. These sessions deliver quick-fire stress management, leadership, and communication tools that any group can immediately implement to boost their psychological resilience and adaptability in today’s high-pressure environment, while also strengthening leadership.
“After sitting down with Paul for about thirty minutes I had the following realisation. He provided exactly what I didn’t know I needed, concrete tools that I could apply and implement in my daily life.”
Structured four step approach to working with you
His clinical psychology/leadership work follows a four-step roadmap:
Deal directly with the issues that are causing you stress to get you immediate relief.
Unpack the patterns and drivers behind them.
Learn and practice evidence-based tools I’ve developed that fit your personality and context.
Turn the learning into a long-term game plan that keeps you moving forward and developing a deeper understanding of life.
“I come out from a session with hands-on tools to take away that I have already been helped to practice, and I can clearly see the can be applied to my situation.”
focus on attention and better coping habits
For many leaders the sticking point is attention. If focus, procrastination or time-blindness are holding you back, we offer a 30-Day Attention Bootcamp based on the latest ADHD research. He is also experienced in helping clients address stress-related coping habits that slowly creep up on you, such as excessive alcohol use.
Walk away with tools that work
Whether we’re addressing anxiety, executive stress, burnout or life transitions, you will leave each session with clear next steps and a toolkit you can use tomorrow. Sessions are face-to-face in Wellington or online anywhere in New Zealand. Some sessions may be covered by health insurance. Depending on whether he is your part of the city, he can on occasion see people at their offices.
“Seeing Paul, there has been a noticeable difference in both my home and work life. I am now a better person as a result.”
